Fat Ceramics Bamboo - Large

Working with Thai and Vietnamese potters in the renowned Sang Arun Ceramics Factory, Piet Hein Eek has designed a range of handmade vases combining a modern shape with traditional Thai and Vietnamese colours and motifs. The glazers have been decorating their ceramics in the same way for centuries and Piet Hein Eek asked them to simply apply the traditional crane, blossom and bamboo patterns a little differently. The craftsmen are used to working within a fairly rigid design structure and this freedom to express themselves led to some surprising results creating decoration both graphic and modern at the same time. The vases tend towards the minimal as the cultural decoration is more about enhancing form than obliterating it and are available in two sizes, medium & large.
