Kay Bojesen Bear

Every once in a while a designer comes along who seems to skate on the very surface of time. These gifted people seem to understand the heart of the matter, designing things not for the moment but for life. Kay Bojesen was such a person, with almost all of his designs still in production up to fifty years after they were conceived. This little wooden bear was designed in 1952 and still looks as contemporary today as he did then. Hand made in oak and maple with moveable head and limbs he prevails not only in design but also in body, if you placed a new bear alongside one from the fifties you would be hard pressed to say which was which. The lasting spirit with which Bojesen imbued his designs was unique and allows his creations to feel more like dear friends than toys.
