The Spinning Light is really wearing it’s heart on its sleeve. Its name not only conjures the inspiration for its form but also suggests the method of its manufacture. Benjamin Hubert, who designed the light for &Tradition, had happy childhood memories of his spinning top, the way it stood so confidently, the near invisible magic of spin, the delightful shape drawn to a point. It was only much later that he discovered that there was an ancient metalworking technique that employed spinning and sought to create something top like that utilised this process. The Spinning Light is spun from a single blank disc of aluminium and is hand shaped into two different forms, Low or Tall, over moulds until the surface is perfectly smooth and ready to be painted in one of a variety of colours. This is the Spinning Light Low which comes in gloss black or white or matt grey, its lovely stationary form, which hangs from a colour coded cable, somehow managing to convey a playful sense of rotation.
Please note: Due to the grey Spinning Light's matt paint surface the lamp can appear lighter or darker than shown depending on ambient lighting conditions.
