SCP was founded by Sheridan Coakley in 1985 to promote classic furniture of the modern movement and to manufacture new products conceived in the same spirit. It was Coakley who spotted the work of Phillipe Starck and first introduced his furniture to an incredulous but appreciative UK public and who helped Matthew Hilton develop the ever popular Balzac chair. SCP continues to work with other leading designers such as Terence Woodgate, Tom Dixon and Robin Day to create exclusive well crafted products which are a delight to see and touch. As a consequence SCP has become widely acknowledged as the UK's most innovative and internationally respected manufacturer and supplier of contemporary design.
