Rume has access to a wide range of sofas, chairs and casework which can be subtly altered to meet a given clients individual specifications. However sometimes a client's ideas or requirements exceed changes to a standard build and a new design may be required. At rume we have years of experience in furniture design with an in-house designer to guide you painlessly through the process. After discussions about needs, wants, desires, a set of accurate drawings will be produced. Drawings do incur a small fee which is reimbursed on placement of order. In some instances with upholstered furniture drawings are not enough and the piece will require a hand made pattern, the cost of patterning is calculated on a case by case basis and will be a component of the final agreed price.

With upholstered pieces customers are welcome to supply their own material as long as it meets the current fire regulations. Of course under those circumstances any liability for performance or life span lies with the client. We will always advise about the suitability of certain fabrics and cushion fillings.

With all case work, tables, beds etc only quality timbers, veneers and other construction materials will be used. All solid timber used in rume furniture comes from sustainable managed sources.
