The Bestlite BL5 Wall lamp, part of the The Bestlite Collection from Gubi, has been in continuous production since 1930. Winston Churchill is numbered amongst its many famous users. The elegant Bestlite design was conceived by Robert Dudley Best who was highly influenced by the Bauhaus. Bauhaus was a German art school that had a profound influence upon subsequent developments in art, architecture, graphic, interior and industrial design and became one of the most influential forces behind Modernist architecture. Now over eighty years on, the Bestlite remains close to its industrial roots and true to its original design. Bestlite is kept in permanent collections at both the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London. Loved by architects, designers and most importantly by its owners, Bestlite still holds a global iconic status to this day. Comes with a colour-coded cable and in line on/off switch which can be converted with a supplied bung for hard-wiring.
