Mette Duedahl is a Danish designer who graduated in 2011 from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Center for Glass and Ceramics, Bornholm. She exhibited as an upcoming designer in the curated New Note area at Formland in August 2011 and was part of the Crafts Collection 17 exhibited at Maison et Objet, Paris 2013. Mette is inspired by everyday life and needs and aims to design innovative and honest objects where high use-value is combined with a simple aesthetic design. Her design philosophy states that when living in a world with many things, there is a great responsibility when designing new things. It is important that the objects possess the qualities to remain useful and appreciated as tools in everyday life. The function is therefore essential and the use value is crucial. Fashion has no place in objects which profess design longevity and a high level of durability. It is the essence of Nordic design, honesty and simplicity, in the materials, in the manufacturing and in the purpose of use.
