Richard Hutten was born in 1967 in Zwollerkerspel in the Netherlands and graduated at the Academy Industrial Design Eindhoven in 1991. That same year he started his own design studio, working on a variety of projects including furniture, product, interior and exhibition design. He also began to develop his 'No sign of design' and 'Table upon table' concepts. Over the years he has become one of the most internationally successful Dutch designers and is a key exponent of Droog Design, with whom he has been involved since it's inception in 1993, and which is noted for its extraordinary work with Dutch design company Moooi. His work is part of the permanent collections of the Centraal Museum Utrecht, the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art Amsterdam, the Vitra Museum Weil am Rhein and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, amongst others. Philippe Starck used some of Hutten’s designs for the interiors of the Delano Hotel Miami and the Mondrian Hotel Los Angeles.
